Our Story

Built to Develop Uganda's Mineral Wealth for Every Ugandan

The Uganda National Mining Company (UNMC) is a statutory company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. Established on April 25, 2024, under the Mining and Minerals Act, CAP 159, UNMC was created to manage Uganda's commercial holding and participation in the mineral industry — both locally and internationally. With Uganda sitting on some of Africa's most significant untapped mineral reserves — including gold, copper, cobalt, iron ore, and rare earth elements — UNMC exists to ensure that these resources generate lasting, equitable value for Ugandans today and for future generations.
